Star find: Baukjen's Astrid dress

I have decided to start celebrating and giving credit to items I purchased that have become star finds. And to open the doors, first up is the Astrid dress from London online boutique Baukjen:

It is a simple jersey dress, but made of a strong, sturdy jersey fabric [very helpful for wobblier body parts].

The boatneck neckline and roomy top half [simply pulled in at the waist with elastic] balance out curvier bottom halves beautifully.

The wrap detail on the skirt lengthens, the ruching helps create more shapely hips.

The three-quarter sleeves add warmth but look cool.

I am much shorter than the model, but the dress is still the right length: above the knee at the front and just below at the back. Nicely thigh-lenghtening :)

The belt in the first image does not come with the dress, but is a great idea. Adding a belt just over the elastic waistline creates further definition and - especially if you choose a sturdier, edgier or perhaps a coloured belt - can transform the vibe slightly.

I was very doubtful whether this would flatter me when I ordered it [encouraged by the sale price], but was very happily surprised. It balances out my flaws and enhances my figure, and, very elusively, gives a laidback but elegant, grownup vibe. I wear it with ankle boots but pumps or knee high boots would also work; certainly a dress-up-or-dress-down piece. It requires very little styling, as the cut is a statement by itself. Definitely a star find!
